The aim of Chain of Responsibility (CoR) is to ensure that everyone in the supply chain has a responsibility for ensuring that breaches of the Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL) do not occur. Under CoR Laws, if you are named as a party in the Chain of Responsibility and you exercise (or have the capability of exercising) control or influence over any transport task, you have a responsibility to ensure the HVNL is complied with. All parties in the Road Transport Supply Chain have specific obligations under the Law to prevent a breach, and so must take positive steps to prevent mass, load restraint, dimension, maintenance, fatigue, and speed offences, so far as is reasonably practicable.
